💛 Our Impact & Vision

At Rebel Animal Rescue, we believe that meaningful change begins at the community level. Our mission is to reduce shelter overcrowding, prevent unnecessary euthanasia, and provide second chances to animals who would otherwise be overlooked. By focusing on out-of-state transport, accessible resources for pet owners, and strong partnerships with local shelters, we’re working to create a more compassionate and sustainable animal welfare system in the Texas Panhandle.

But our vision doesn’t stop at rescue—we want to build a future where families feel supported in keeping their pets, where shelters are no longer overwhelmed, and where every animal has a safe place to land. Through expanding our facilities, growing our foster network, and offering community programs like our Pet Pantry, we hope to not only save lives—but uplift the entire community along the way.

We’re here for the animals. We’re here for the people who love them. And we’re just getting started.

2024 Year in Review – Rebel Animal Rescue
Rebel Animal Rescue began as a dream shared by a small group of passionate rescuers with over 20 years of combined experience. Recognizing the urgent need for transport in the Texas Panhandle, Rebel was born.

On April 23, 2024, we officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. In our first year, we:

    Launched our organization

    Purchased a transport van

Participated in 25 transports to trusted rescue partners

Started a community pet pantry to help keep pets fed and with their families

Welcomed 273 animals into our program by year’s end

It was a wild, beautiful start—and we're just getting going. 🐾

Rebel Animal Rescue entered 2025 focused on expanding lifesaving capacity and strengthening rescue partnerships across the Texas Panhandle and beyond. Building on our foster-based foundation, we took important steps toward increasing both local and transport impact.

    In 2025, we:

    Expanded on-site capacity
Added 5 dog kennels and 2 cat kennels, allowing us to respond faster to urgent shelter needs and provide short-term housing for animals requiring immediate care.

Strengthened rescue partnerships and transport efforts
Completed 47 transports and transferred animals to trusted rescue partners in Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, and Washington.

Continued community support through our Pet Pantry
Helping families keep pets fed and together during times of financial hardship.

    Supported a large foster network
With 53 active foster homes, providing temporary care for 521 animals throughout the year.

Welcomed 769 animals into our program
Including dogs, cats, and one rabbit from area shelters, owner surrenders, and emergency situations.

It was a year of growth, hard work, and continued commitment to saving lives — and we’re still just getting started.

2026 Looking Ahead — Rebel Animal Rescue

As Rebel Animal Rescue continues to grow, our focus in 2026 is on building a stronger, more sustainable future for the animals and the community we serve.

    In 2026, our goals include:

Working toward land for a future facility
Our long-term vision is a dedicated rescue property with indoor and outdoor dog areas, play yards, a separate cat space, meet-and-greet rooms for adoptions, quarantine and medical areas, and eventually an on-site veterinary wing. We plan to start small, grow in phases, and build as funding allows through capital grants, community sponsors, and in-kind donations.

Increasing local adoptions while continuing strategic transport
With rising shelter overcrowding, our priority will be placing more animals locally through regular adoption events and community partnerships, while continuing limited transports to trusted out-of-state rescues when resources allow.

Expanding adoption events and community engagement
Weekly adoption events through Petco and additional pop-up events will help connect more animals with families and keep rescue visible and accessible in our community.

Growing sustainable funding through creative fundraising and partnerships
From community fundraisers to local business sponsorships, we are committed to finding long-term funding solutions that support steady growth and lifesaving without relying on emergency appeals alone.

Our mission remains the same: save lives, support families, and provide compassionate care to animals who have nowhere else to turn. In 2026, we’re not just dreaming bigger — we’re building toward it, step by step.
